Subject: DL 70 and LL Election Safety
District 70 is doing everything possible to ensure member safety during the election on May 30, 2020. Voting Polls will be open for each of the Local Lodges per their polling times and remain open per the “Notice of Election” notices which were sent to each member’s home, shop, and posted to our social media outlets to allow members ample time to vote. Please make arrangements to exercise your right as an IAMAW member to vote, we will do everything possible to reduce any wait times. In the event there is a line, we will work everyone through as fast and safely as possible. For your safety, please see the polling location video and pictures to better help you understand the State and CDC recommendations. We have placed locators on the floor for proper social distancing and there will be plenty of hand sanitizer available. Voting booths will also be cleaned after each voter and there will be pens available for each voter to use and take with them after voting. We have purchased facemasks for anyone who requests one during voting, although we are not sure they will arrive before the vote date, so please bring your own, if you wish. Facemasks are recommended during voting but not required per the State and CDC’s recommended guidelines. We will have a sufficient number of gloves on hand for anyone who requests them.
Please understand as a Union we are considered essential and we are not considered to be in violation of a gathering of 10 persons or more since members will walk-in, vote, and leave. We have also made arrangements to have Local 708 and Local 2799 vote downstairs to alleviate some of the traffic in the main hall upstairs.
